Postcards is the result of a long distance collaboration with my friend Àlex Reviriego.

As a sort of game between us Àlex sent me several double bass improvisations exploring new techniques and timbres he was developing at that time, and I sampled and manipulated them with the software I was working on. There were no real predetermined intentions or ideas behind the process, just kids bouncing a ball in a sunny afternoon, making up the game as they go.

The name Postcards is tied to this gamelike nature of the music and the obvious geographical distance between the Irish coast and the Catalan beaches.

Àlex is such an amazing player and it was a privilege to work on this with him.
